Adding a page

The easiest way to add a page is to use the "Page Manager" link from the sitemap. Remember that you need to be authenticated (see DocLoggingIn). You will see a link "add new page" with several links underneath (listing all other pages in the system). Since we want to add a new page we click on "add new page".

We are presented with a form that expects from us:

  • identifier: this is the name of the page used inside url's
  • pagename: this is the name of the page for all other purposes (and can be language dependent)
  • active?: if this page should be accessible
  • right: you can choose if the page should be viewable by "all" or "only logged in users"
  • headline: this is the headline of the new page which is displayed in bold
  • main: this is the main text of the page, you can use all the supported wiki rules of this wiki here as well

Q: Now you may be asking: Isnt this kinda limiting?
A: Yes it is.
Q: Does that mean the cms module is a joke?
A: No, this is just the simple templates we provided to get people off the ground. You can get a glimpse of how flexible things can be by peeking into the "cms hardcore" link from the sitemap. Some day we will explain how to create your own templates. For now you may want to have a look at http://svn.oss.backendmedia.com/templates/default/cms/custom/ to see how the simple templates work.
